The mission of the MWCC is to strengthen the contribution of women in the chemical sciences. We serve early and midcareer scientists through programming and invite graduate and undergraduate students to participate.

Our goals for 2006 include:

1) To promote networking and information-sharing to assist women in the chemical sciences to advance in their careers, by hold a networking meeting, to include women in other scientific disciplines, in February at the New York Academy of Sciences, which focuses on career building. This meeting is organized in collaboration with MetroAWIS and the Section of Women in Science, NY Academy of Sciences [NY AS-WlS], and a networking meeting in May 2005 [or fall 2005] in North Jersey that may include the opportunity for younger scientists to give short research presentations.

2) To recognize the achievement of women in the chemical sciences and in the broader scientific and engineering community by collaborating with MetroA WIS in an award ceremony November 2005 recognizing outstanding local women scientists. The group also will collaborate with NY AS-WlS and MetroA WlS in the annual celebration of Women's History Month honoring scientists who have distinguished themselves at the national and international level.
