The Department of Chemistry in St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John’s University (Queens, New York) is seeking applicants for two full-time one-year contract positions in the fields of analytical chemistry and organic chemistry at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in fall 2018.

Instrumentation Support Technician/Organic Lab Coordinator Position (August, 2018)
The Instrumentation Support Technician/Organic Lab Coordinator will provide instrumentation support for the department as part of the position duties. Responsibilities will also include coordinating and preparing the organic chemistry laboratories, teaching one section of the organic laboratory, as well as additional administrative and service responsibilities.
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate strong interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; and the ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with people of varying races, genders, disabilities, origins and other cultural differences. A Master's degree in chemistry or closely related field is required. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate academic or professional experience with use and maintenance of a range of instrumentation such as GC, GC-MS, HPLC, NMR, IR, AA, UV/Vis.

Highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry sought.
Background in the synthesis of transition-metal complexes and extensive hands-on experience in multinuclear 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy. Candidate should demonstrate ample experience working under inert atmosphere (glove box and Schleck techniques). Priority will be given to candidates with experience in the synthesis of gold and ruthenium compounds. Familiarity with peptide synthesis, bioconjugation techniques or encapsulation of compounds in nanocarriers a plus.
